Software Engineer and Researcher
Hello there! My name is Lori and as of April of 2020, I have been a member of the narralive team of the Athena Research and Innovation Centre, working as a software engineer and researcher. As a part of the team, I get to explore different aspects of intuitive user-centered interface and experience design through my participation in national RTD and European projects such as ARIA, VOESKA ARSINOE, where I am involved with the design and development of web and extended-realities (XR) applications. More specifically, one of my biggest projects has been redesigning and developing the team's Web-Experiencing platform, a webXR application used for bringing virtual tours and interactive storytelling experiences to life. Being a dancer with experience in multiple genres, I am fascinated with interdisciplinary
research concepts and different art forms coming to life through modern, interactive software and media. I fell in love with digital games at a young age, and, as a young researcher, I am very interested in game development at all its stages- the creation of the story, the conceptual and technical design and development. My first attempt to combine these passions- games, dance and media- came with the design and development of “Motion Hollow”, a playful story-driven 3D experience for collecting movement annotations, a concept evolved from my BSc thesis, the work of which was also published. In my free time, when I am not taking dance classes or dancing socially, I work as a swing dance instructor at a local dance studio. I am also fascinated by the art of storytelling through comic books and I ocassionally enjoy creating one-pager comics.
